Forever - A Short Story

This story begins with two boys inside a shed.  The shed is lit by a light in the corner, a dingy lamp.  As they both are enveloped by the special medicine in the room, the one boy begins to be beckoned by an overwhelming force within him as he reaches further and further into the depths of his consciousness and succumbs to a spiritual awakening.  The voice is calling out to him, seeking him for a mission for which he has been called on to fulfill.  It has been prophesied throughout the ages for the coming of such a boy, and all at once, it felt real in his mind and could be felt within steady vibrations through his body.  The boy stood at the threshold of the door, and could feel the cool spring breeze run across his exposed cheeks and long, cold fingers. The boy felt drawn to his home where he was to fulfill what had been written for so long ago and had been passed down throughout the ages to for when the right moment in time and space emerged.  The boy’s mind began to fill with excitement and anxiousness and he swiftly moved one foot in front of the other as his walk now turned into a light jog, and eventually to what seemed like a sprint.  He reached the door. As tiny droplets of sweat perspired from his hairline and brow, he opened the door and entered his home moving through the dark quickly and quietly.  All along, the boy kept asking himself this one question over and over as a burning desire for truth filled his mind: What was to come and become of him in this moment to come?

As the boy entered the room, his mind went for the light, but his hand felt a pressure, a resistance, altering his path away from the light.  Instead, he was drawn to the bed where he collapsed into the clouds that was his mattress.  As he began to get comfortable, the boy began to align his body as he always does during meditation and prayer.  He crossed his legs and arms, each aligned in center with each other.  He relaxed his mind and drew his eyes to a close.  That force that came to him earlier, returned.  A presence, a shadowy figure emerged within his deep state of meditation with a message.  His message was clear, you are to create, were the words spoken into his mind.  In an instance, the vision and unknown figure were gone, but the message was clear.  Before the boy could think, the words C-R-E-A-T-E were spoken from his lips, transferring from the depths of his mind through the gateway that was his lips for a thought that is only manifested with the action of spoken word.  In an instant of time, the boy's mind was overwhelmed with white light and the sudden feeling of acceleration.  His subconscious vision was moving faster than light and was creating space out of itself as the boy accelerated forward. With each passing second,  His mind, brain, and body vibrated in unison as his vision and subconscious body accelerated forward through space and time which was being calculated and created from itself to expand further.  As space was created, objects did not appear behind the boy as he thought.  As the boy approached what was to become Earth, something in the back of his mind told him to turn on the light, so without blinking an eye, the boy quickly turned on the lamp adjacent to his bed.  Next, the boy closed his eyes again and let out a breath of air.  What came next began to overwhelm the boy at what he created.  With the lamp light and the breath came life and light to the Earth and the universe. The stars were shining in every direction and before him was his greatest creation, Earth.  As the boy hovered lower to overlook his creation, he saw before him……. a man and woman in the garden of knowledge of good and evil.  But in the end, everything was perfect.

The boy awakens from the dream, now realizing what lay inside his mind…….Creation.  Elated with raw emotion, the boy lay calmly with the lights off again staring into his now blank mind.  What have I just done?  Is this real, or a dream?  Reality or an illusion?  Questions began to invade his mind, attacking from all angles of his subconscious mind.  Every human life comes with a story, a perspective, something that is Created through the connection between the conscious observer and the natural world.  If all human life, if each conscious observer, has a story, the boy thought, why shouldn’t the universe, or the world to come, not fulfill the same fate as the Creator of the human universe.

As the boy laid to rest that spring night, thoughts and feelings of euphoria flooded his nervous system, leaving him with a relaxed mind and body, and soon, the boy dozed off into sleep.  The boy awoke the next day as if it was any ordinary day, his experience from the night before lay resting deep in his subconscious mind, waiting for a sign for what was to come.  As the day soon turned to night, the boy was called upon again, that overwhelming presence re-emerged just as it did the night before, cloaking the boy with its shadowy presence.  The boy’s body started to tingle, vibrations pervaded his central nervous system, then soon returned to its point of origin in perfect cycles of euphoria.  As the boy laid his head to the pillow and closed his eyes, this night would be the second of many nights to come in the dream created in the boy’s infinite mind.

The action of spoken word proceeded from the boy’s lips, “CREATE!”  As the boy entered the matrix of his Creation in that instant, he was not alone this time.  Behind the boy was not a shadow of a man but was marked as the beast.  As the dream continued, the image in the boy’s mind shot off from the third eye, accelerating, trying to escape the grasp of this new present character in the dream.  The boy’s subconscious vision became tunneled, on both sides of him was stretched light that lay still as he increasingly accelerated forward across space.  Overcome with fear in the dream, and in reality, as the boy’s heart rate steadily rises, the boy’s next experience surprised him and left him unaware of the significance of its meaning to this very day.

As the boy reached the end of what was his Creation, his anxiousness overcame his emotional state.  What was going to happen?  Was this the end of the road?  As the boy reached the end of forward time, the race was not over, but only beginning.  As the beast followed close behind, the boy jumped through the end of time, and into a new beginning.  Another copy of his Creation lay on the other side of existence unbeknownst to the boy.  All the while the beast slowly crept up, inching forward, while all around, space lay paralyzed in the mist of this epic marathon of Good Vs. Evil.  The boy’s thoughts enter the vision, speaking out, “Keep going and don’t look back,” knowing the face of everything he fears in life lies in the eye of the figure in his wake.

As the dream continued, the boy’s rate of acceleration increased over time and space.  in the time it took to get through one universe, the boy and the beast raced on through nine worlds, nine copies of Creation.  At last, the boy outran the grips of evil, as he ended the ninth world, the portal closed behind him forever locking the beast from the innocent worlds that he Created.

As the dream ended, and the boy came back to the world of the current moment, he kept his eyes closed laying in the vast emptiness that was his mind.  The world, the boy thought, was much stranger than it seemed.  How could something so perfect, so elegant, so beautiful only exist in his mind, with no tangible way of experiencing it in the reality that he has come to know and understand.  As the boy looked back on his own life in the current moment, he thought back to his thoughts as a child.  As he flipped back the pages of his life, he recalled always needing to see something with his own eyes to know it is real, but now he was stuck in an oxymoron.  The boy slowly faded to sleep knowing he was caught between two worlds, the world that he thought he knew and the world that he Created in his Mind.

On the third day, the boy awoke.

It was an April morning. He looked toward the window and noticed a bird’s nest resting in the bush outside his bedroom. Spring had arrived. All seemed right in the world. Yet something within him stirred. He could not escape the weight of his thoughts—the lingering question of what had unfolded in his conscious dream the night before.

He closed his eyes.

At once, his faith returned. He saw the silent Earth, the waiting heavens—everything poised for motion, for meaning, for the next chapter in the story of Forever.

Rewinding the hands of time within his mind, he drifted backward. He examined the path that had led him here—the sequence of thoughts, events, and decisions that formed this present moment. He questioned the structure of his life, the order of cause and effect, and the deeper nature of reality itself.

Was the world something he was given… or something he had made?

Sitting there on that April morning, he wondered whether the world would reject him—or whether it would trust the dream he had seen and made in his mind.

His mind continued to move backward, further still, tracing yesterday into memory. He reflected on the unfolding of his experiences, as if guided by a Creator—and yet, he now questioned whether that Creator had always been… himself.

Then came the next chapter.

This time, it was not darkness or struggle against some unseen opposer. It was light. Motion. Beginning.

As the day wore on, the boy returned to his bed. He sank into the quiet embrace of his mattress, preparing once again to enter the space within. His eyes closed, and his awareness shifted inward—to the all-seeing eye behind thought itself.

One word escaped his lips:

“Create.”

Instantly, he returned to the world within his mind.

It was still dark.

He exhaled.

The breath of life moved outward—and with it came division. Light separated from darkness. Day from night. Motion from stillness. The first order of his universe emerged.

In the days that followed, the boy and his architects—the seven angels—set to work. Together, they formed the heavens and the Earth, establishing the laws, the rhythm, the mathematics of existence.

One by one, they approached each silent celestial body.

The boy stood above it all, watching through the great looking glass, as his angels moved like streaks of light—faster than perception, faster than time itself. They prepared each world, each structure, each orbit.

And when they were finished, they called for his breath.

For it was his breath that sealed creation.

It was his breath that made it real.

After shaping the Earth, they turned outward—to the nine planets of the solar system. One by one, they were set into motion. Balance was established. Harmony achieved.

And so, the system was complete.

The boy returned to the present.

He sat in the quiet of his room, wondering what the world beyond his mind might think of him as he wrote these words. He longed for a sign—for something beyond himself to answer back.

Silence.

He lay down once more.

Closed his eyes.

“CREATE.”

Again, he entered the matrix of his own making—light weaving around him like a living web. He moved through it, weightless, until he emerged into the world he had built.

His architects stood before him.

“Would you like to see your creation?” they asked.

“Yes,” the boy replied, unable to contain his excitement.

He looked to the left.

It was good.

To the right.

It was good.

Above.

Below.

Forward.

Backward.

Every direction revealed perfection.

He sealed the edges of his world and struck his drum.

And so, the Living One—the first and the last—rejoiced.

For he had become one with his God,

and one among his seven angels,

in the completion of his perfect dream.
